Guide for setup VPN on Windows Phone 8.1

You may need a VPN setting on your phone for security, unblock or some other purposes. IOS users can find VPN apps for their device, while, there is no app for windows phones. A lot of windows phone users may don't know how to setup VPNs on their phone. Windows Phone 8.1 supports for VPNs, including app-specific VPN capabilities, IPsec, and SSL VPN gateways. The VPN functionality in Windows Phone 8.1 is supported by many major VPN vendors.

This guide explains how to setup a VPN profile on your windows phone: 

Create your VPN profile
1. Go to 'Settings' - 'General' - 'VPN' and toggle 'VPN Status' switch 'On'. 
2. Tap on the '+' button to create a new profile. 
3. Fill in the following information:
a. 'Server name or IP address' is the VPN host name or IP.
b. 'Type' refers to the protocol being used (IKE, IKE2, L2TP with IPSec...)
c. If 'connect using' appears, tap the box and then choose one of the following, depending on what type of VPN connection you chose in the previous step:
For a connection that uses a user name and password, tap 'User name+password', and then enter your user name and password in the User name and Password boxes.
For a connection that uses a certificate, tap 'Certificate', and then choose a certificate to use to connect to the VPN.
For an L2TP with IPSec type of VPN connection, tap 'User name+password+preshared key', 'Preshared key', or 'Preshared key+certificate', and then select or enter that information.

Configure your settings
1. You can leave the 'Connect Automatically' switch on, if you want your device to automatically connect to the VPN when required. 
2. Choosing 'Send All Traffic' will lead all the actions requiring an internet connection transmit through the VPN. You can turn off this feature and then select the 'domains' and 'IP range' you want to send traffic via the VPN. 
3. The 'Profile' name field allows you to pick up a unique name for the selected VPN. 
4. 'Advanced options' is where you can configure proxy settings (when required). You can also configure your phone behaves when you are at home/office or don't use VPN for home/company Wi-Fi traffic. 
5. Once you have configured your VPN profile go back to the 'VPN' settings page and tap on 'Options'. From this menu you can configure the following options: 'Allow VPN over cellular data' and 'Allow VPN when roaming over cellular data'.
